Lester L Polk is from Salinas, CA. He has been incarcerated since he was 18 years old when he was involved in a home invasion that had devastating impacts. After years of incarceration, Lester entered a Restorative Justice process with one of the survivors of the home invasion. Her name is Cheryl Ward Kaiser. The two are now friends and Cheryl has been advocating for Lester’s release from prison – where he is sentenced to live until he dies.
From inside prison, Lester has written many poems. He also recorded an interview for a radio story about his process with Cheryl. He is currently working on a script for a musical theater piece in collaboration with Ani DiFranco, Kenyatta Hughes, and Zoe Boekbinder.
